Committee Description

Established in January 1998, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) promotes disarmament through dialogue confidence-building on military matters and regional disarmament efforts. UNODA actively works with other UN bodies such as the General Assembly First Committee and Disarmament Commission. UNODA also heads efforts to achieve the proliferation of weapons of mass destructions such as nuclear weapons and implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty internationally. Overall, UNODA is crucial for maintaining the security and stability around the globe.
